Dictionary Cd55 - Detail 1Protein expression - CD55High magnification of lymphoma (chronic lymphocytic leukemi, B-CLL) showing the expression of CD55. CD55 stains the germinal center dendritic reticulum cell network. Tumor cells in this particular lymphoma are negative for CD55. CD55 - Marker for the reticular network in lymphatic tissuesCD-markers (Cluster of Differentiation) are antibodies that recognize cell surface antigens and antibodies detecting specific CD antigens are used in immunohistochemistry, mainly to distinguish different types of immune cells. The CD55 gene encodes the complement-decay-accelerating factor protein, which is a transmembrane protein that is widely expressed in tissues that are in contact with complement proteins in blood plasma. CD55 is involved in the regulation of the complement cascade by disrupting the cascade and thus preventing damage to the body's own cells. It is commonly used to visualize the reticular network, e.g. germinal centers, in lymphatic tissues, such as the lymph nodes and tonsils.Show CD55 in the protein atlas.
