The brain, together with the endometrium, are the tissues where DBN1 shows the highest expression among human organs, with RNA transcripts being particularly elevated in several regions of the CNS. Similarly, in the mouse, available data for DBN1 RNA and protein suggest widespread distribution patterns, with synaptic labelling being observed throughout the entire brain, strongly in hippocampus and molecular layer of the cerebellum. In addition, unique staining of a subset of neurons in the rostral migratory stream in the olfactory bulb is noted too.
