A complex staining:
Strong, mainly nuclear, but also weaker cytoplasmic somatic staining in subsets of neurons throughout the brain with remarkable differences in the density of the stained cells between regions: high density of immunostained cells are seen in multiple thalamic nuclei, neocortex layer V, amygdala, cerebellar Purkine-cells, nucleus accumbens, preoptic area, multiple brainstem nuclei; only few cells are immunoreactive in the caudate putamen, septum, VDB and hippocampus.
Axonal/diffuse synaptic staining is seen in the ventral pallidum, in the bulbus olfactorius (glomerular-, externa- and internal plexiform layers), substantia nigra. Median eminence, choroid plexus and pia mater exhibit strong immunostaining.

Positive cells and structuresi
Manually selected location of the protein positivity, observed by immunofluorescence staining in mouse brain.
