A subset of astrocytes is moderatley immunoreactive throughout the entire brain gray matter. This astroglial staining is more intense in the globus pallidus, preoptic area, ventral pallidum, in amygdala and around the third ventricle in the tuberal hypothalamus.
In addition, moderate-weak neuronal cytoplasmic somatic immunostaining is noticed in the lateral hypothalamic area, in some thalamic nuclei and in the entorhinal cortex.
